Sir Clifford Skeggs Book
The Boy from Bluff, 2015
Sir Clifford Skeggs' self-published autobiography. Ghost-written by Jenny McLeod, it's a story of a self-made man afraid of neither risk nor hard work.

"Sir Cliff Skeggs was born in Bluff, Southland, in 1931. From an early age he had an entrepreneurial flair and after completing a ship and boat building apprenticeship in Port Chalmers launched his own company, Skeggs Fisheries Ltd, in 1958. The fishing business escalated and over the years the Skeggs Group diversified into many other areas such as property investment and development, food processing, farming and deer recovery, shipping, aviation, tourism and wine growing. Sir Cliff, who was knighted in 1987, also served as mayor of Dunedin from 1977-1989. He was a high profile chairman of both the Otago Harbour Board and Port Otago and is created with spearheading a container port for Port Chalmers. But in spite of his success and his long public involvement in the Otago region Sir Cliff has never forgotten his beginnings. To him Bluff is home and he will always considered himself 'the boy from Bluff'"--Back cover.
